Building the pharmacy of the future, today

At CVS Pharmacy®, we’re committed to transforming the pharmacy experience for all. That is why we’re introducing game-changing innovations that improve our colleagues’ day-to-day life and help them deliver the meaningful, personalized care our patients expect.

Balancing workload and workflow

Behind the pharmacy counter, we are helping teams better manage their prescription queues thanks to a new, dynamic workload sharing model. Rather than operating as an individual pharmacy, we work together as a community — sharing workload across groups of pharmacies within each state.* This enables consistency and flexibility for our pharmacy teams to step away without workflow backing-up — making it easier for them to spend time on what matters most: interacting with their patients.

A better way to DUR

With our improved drug utilization review (DUR) system, we’re further championing safety and quality. This includes providing our pharmacists with holistic, reliable information to counsel their patients when needed, efficiently and with confidence that they have the best-in-class guidance, right on their workstation screen. This helps them practice at the top of their license and education, driving consistent, high-quality patient care.

Digital engagement creates simplicity

We’re accelerating our digital tools to empower our patients and enhance their experiences in-store and online. Through the CVS Pharmacy app, consumers can manage their prescriptions and receive timely digital notifications detailing when their medicine is ready. They can even pre-pay for their prescriptions, making pick-up faster. These types of innovations help reduce inbound pharmacy calls, streamline the pick-up experience and support more effective, efficient workload prioritization.

At CVS Pharmacy, we’re thinking about how we work in a whole new way, supporting our colleagues as they provide the safe, effective and quality care and service our patients want. That’s how healthier happens together.
