Our more than 9,800 CVS Pharmacy locations dispense more prescriptions than any other drugstore chain. Through face-to-face counseling, our pharmacists drive medication adherence, close gaps in care, and recommend more cost-effective drug therapies. And since the first CVS opened in 1963 in Lowell, Massachusetts, we’ve continuously added to our national footprint through organic store growth and strategic acquisitions, most recently the purchase of 1,600 Target pharmacies.
Driving growth, maintaining tradition
In some cases, an acquisition was such an iconic part of the fabric of the community in which it operated, we opted to retain the company name and brand in select stores:
Longs Drugs – The West Coast drugstore chain joined the CVS Pharmacy family in 2008. Longs Drugs-branded stores are located in Hawaii and offer the same great product selection and service that made the chain so popular.
Navarro Discount Pharmacy – Acquired in 2014, this 33-store chain is located in South Florida and caters to the Hispanic consumer. Insights from our Navarro customers help inform the design and product selection in our CVS y más Hispanic-format locations in Florida and California.
Diverse store offerings
Innovation is the driving force behind everything we do, and has resulted in the addition of unique store formats and international locations.
CVS y más – CVS Pharmacy y más offers an environment where our Hispanic customers feel at home and can receive CVS Pharmacy’s best-in-class pharmacy services along with personalized products and services to better meet their diverse needs, including more than 1,500 trusted Hispanic products and fully bilingual associates and signage.
