While visiting her local CVS Pharmacy, a woman walked by a Project Health event happening in-store. Interested, she decided to take advantage of the free health screening offered there. What began as a simple shopping trip quickly turned into a moment of motivation.
“I was pleasantly surprised with my Project Health experience. I came in to purchase a few items and left with a different attitude about my health,” said a recent participant in Chicago, IL. “I found myself the next day thinking about changing my eating habits and setting up a doctor’s visit.” The experience sparked a renewed commitment to her well-being – one that began with a simple opportunity.
This experience is not unique. Across the country, thousands of people are discovering the value of accessible preventive services through Project Health. Another participant emphasized the importance of acting on your screening results:
“I didn't know my cholesterol was so high and I would not have known...if I hadn't checked. I think this has positively impacted my life. I went, got my omega 3 that moment, I ordered my watch to track my walking, I signed up for classes at my community center for working out...I truly believe this has saved me,” said a participant in Los Angeles, CA.
At CVS Health, our mission is straightforward: create a simpler, more connected health care experience that saves time, reduces costs and improves health outcomes. Our Project Health initiative reflects this mission by offering free health screenings to communities nationwide. For many, Project Health helps fill a critical gap in care. One participant, recently laid off, shared how the program helped her stay on top of her health:
“I had a wonderful experience with Project Health. The staff was courteous and professional, as well as informative. I was laid off last February, and routine health care is now a challenge. I cannot begin to express how much I appreciated this opportunity to get an update on my vitals,” said a participant in Houston, TX.
What is Project Health?
Project Health provides complimentary screenings at CVS Pharmacy locations and mobile units—no appointments necessary. We collaborate with local organizations to ensure that everyone has access to essential health services, regardless of their insurance status. Each participant receives:
- Free screenings for blood pressure, glucose, BMI and more
- On-site consultations with health care providers
- A directory of local health care resources and health education through the newly updated Project Health mobile app
Project Health is more than just a program; it’s a crucial resource. It simplifies access to health care, connects individuals to necessary resources, and improves the health of communities that need it most. Each screening, consultation and follow-up contributes to a healthier future. The screenings often lead to meaningful changes. One participant reflected:
“As I mentioned to the staff at the event, the services they provided are much needed and appreciated. Sometimes you find out you have a health issue for the first time at events like this,” said a recent participant in Philadelphia, PA.
