Living Our Values
We care.
It's just been amazing to see how I can have an impact on people, even through a phone call.
So excited for you.
Thank you.
When Paula told me that she had cancer, I said, there are parts of this journey that you might have challenges overcoming, and I can see what I can do to help.
I learned pretty early on that I would lose my hair. I'm so happy that other people going through this now get to be told, go get a wig, go make yourself confident, and it's going to be a smooth process for them because of the work done by Aetna and Amy and her team.
Because you never really know what people are going through in life, it's very important for you to have empathy and understanding.
Absolutely. I'm so sorry to hear that.
I'm able to mentor others and deliver a high standard of care in my work.
We innovate with purpose.
We had a unique opportunity to be able to include multiple different types of automation into this facility that's not seen anywhere else in the world.
We've been breaking records almost every week with the amount of volume that we're able to push through that building.
CVS is always evolving, introducing new technology to help our teams work more efficiently.
Success comes from adapting, evolving, embracing change.
From large-scale projects across 9,000 stores to simple innovation within your own team.
We are accountable.
This year, they were going to climb Machu Picchu, and shortly after he arrived, he wasexperiencing signs and symptoms of acute altitude sickness.
Because his brain had so much swelling, Paul's only chance at survival was descending out of that altitude.
No other insurance company would have moved as quickly as Aetna did.
Within seconds, we had an authorization.
Within seconds, we were able to start the planning.
Other insurance companies, it would take hours, if not days, for them to recognize the issue.
Aetna and MedEscort share the same philosophy.
It's about patient care and what's right for the patient.
We have been a part of probably more than 100 ribbon cuttings and groundbreakings.
We invest in multifamily properties all across the United States for various tenancy types, including families, seniors, and permanent supportive housing units that are set aside for those who are facing different challenges in their own lives.
The best part of my job is when we're actually able to be out there in the community speaking to the residents and learning the incredible impact we've had on their lives.
We prioritize safety and quality.
At every in-home evaluation, I have a responsibility to provide a service.
Good to see you!
The way that I can make sure that I am conducting the best possible evaluation is making the
member feel like I'm putting their safety first.
And good!
Should be a little winded after that one.
And a quality visit depends on that connection.

Accessible, convenient health care
CVS Health® is addressing common barriers to achieving optimal health — starting with the cost and complexity of the modern health care system. By enabling people to manage their health more conveniently and with the care and coverage they need, we’re re-defining what’s possible in health care.
What does it mean to deliver care?
Care is about seeing the whole person –
supporting their well-being
and progress towards a healthier future.
We all deserve better:
better health outcomes, experiences, access, and value.
And that’s why CVS Health Care Delivery is here –
making good on our promise of better care
and showing what health care should be across the country.
We largely do this through value-based care –
a simple but powerful idea:
focusing on patient outcomes, not just the services delivered.

the providers, clinicians, and the thousands of other colleagues powering this purpose.

85% of Americans live within 10 miles of a CVS Pharmacy® location. Our colleagues serve millions of people each day to ensure access to trusted pharmacy care and everyday essentials, including communities where access to health care is limited.
- 9,000+ community destinations
- 97% of stores open every day
- 5M+ MinuteClinic® patient visits
We believe primary care is a key element in addressing health care accessibility and cost challenges.
MinuteClinic®, the medical clinic located inside select CVS Pharmacy stores, is evolving to provide primary care services to more communities, while continuing to offer walk-in sick care. Today, nearly half of its clinics deliver adult primary care through health system and payer affiliations. As part of the model, its workforce of nurse practitioners and physician assistants serve as primary care providers, connecting patients to ongoing, accessible care.
We focus on meeting the unique needs of the community members we serve:
Powered by thousands of trusted clinicians and pharmacists, accessible clinics and the nation's #1 specialty pharmacy1, we are at the forefront of expanding access to health care in America. That includes our commitment to affordability:
- Aetna members who have a combined medical and pharmacy offering have lower medical costs. Aetna members who consistently use CVS Pharmacy have higher medication adherence and lower rates of emergency room use.
- Through the combination of Cordavis, CVS Caremark and CVS Specialty, we can seamlessly transition patients to low-cost biosimilars. We achieved 96% adoption from the high-cost reference brand HUMIRA® to a low-list price biosimilars. More than 80% of members paid $0 out of pocket, ultimately delivering more than $1.5 billion in savings to our clients and their members.
- Aetna’s network negotiations resulted in over $235 billion of savings for members and clients. CVS Caremark’s negotiations with drug manufacturers delivered nearly $80 billion in discounts. Together, that’s over $315 billion in annual savings we generated for our members and clients in 2025.
Value-based care prioritizes health outcomes
With our connected businesses and commitment to value-based care, and delivering better outcomes at a lower cost, we have an opportunity to significantly transform and improve health care. Providers focus on prevention and coordinated care rather than the number of services delivered.
Aetna® is growing its network of providers with value-based arrangements; in fact, 80% of Aetna spending across our Medicare Advantage health care spending is through value-based care arrangements. In its capacity as a payor, Aetna fosters deep partnerships with providers, by developing strategies and tools, sharing data that helps providers make the best decisions for their patients and tracking results to improve care and the overall member journey.
Oak Street Health® uses a value-based care model to improve the health and daily lives of the approximately 500,000 patients served in 2025. Across 230 clinics in 27 states3, patients receive team-based support — from primary care and behavioral health services to pharmacy and social services. This proactive approach to care helps them stay healthier and avoid unnecessary hospital visits. The clinics also build community through classes, workshops and social events that reduce isolation and keep patients engaged.
Signify Health® provides In-Home Health Evaluations and services designed to support earlier detection, diagnosis and management of medical conditions. Clinicians (licensed physicians, nurse practitioners and physician assistants) review medications and assess social or environmental factors that may be affecting a member’s health. This more personalized visit often leads to earlier interventions and more coordinated follow up care, including referrals to primary care providers and specialists — making it easier for members to stay on top of their health without leaving home.
In addition to convenient and sick care, MinuteClinic offers in-person primary care in select markets. This expanded focus on longitudinal care builds a strong foundation to support value-based care in the future.

- The CVS Health app is a single place to manage health care for the entire family across Aetna, CVS Pharmacy stores, CVS Caremark and CVS Specialty. It helps patients access and manage medical benefits; refill and track their prescription; schedule MinuteClinic appointments and access virtual care; and order wellness products.
- The Aetna Health app also provides members with tools and graphics that help them better understand what’s covered and what they may owe their provider. It’s also one of the first health insurance apps to support dark mode, an important option for accessibility.
- Aetna Care Paths is a new feature in the Aetna Health app that gives members personalized information about procedures and benefits. It’s a shift from the transactional approach to health care taken by most insurance companies, to one that is journey-based and holistic.
- For many CVS Specialty patients, getting started on their therapies and staying on them is critical. We’ve invested in innovations that simplify onboarding, allowing us to support patients even faster. For example, our proprietary pharmacy technology integrates directly into prescriber workflows via their Electronic Health Records (EHRs), providing real-time visibility into the patient’s progress.
- We’re simplifying the process of prior authorizations: Aetna is bundling multiple authorization requests into one up-front approval with the help of technology, reducing delays and getting members and patients the care they need more quickly.
AI has the power to revolutionize health care and we will use it responsibly. As AI continues to evolve, we are committed to doing our part to ensure it’s used safely, responsibly and ethically. Learn more in Healthy Business
Personalized care for better health outcomes
No two people have the same health journey. Well-being is shaped by individual needs, priorities, lifestyle and environment. That’s why CVS Health takes a more personalized, holistic approach — ensuring care and support that evolves with the patient. We help consumers stay ahead of health challenges and make more informed choices that lead to better health outcomes.
Proactive and personalized patient care
We use evidence-based, data-driven insights to deliver a more tailored and effective member experience. Across our businesses, we provide health-focused, proactive recommendations based on individual needs and preferences — through the phone, mail, text, online and in-person. Whether we are educating a member about a local, in-network lab for an upcoming blood draw, or providing information and resources to help a patient avoid a preventable health complication following a procedure, these next best actions lead to higher engagement and improved health outcomes.
- We provide comprehensive diabetes support through our Health Care Delivery businesses. MinuteClinic® offers preventive screenings for all and for eligible adults enrolled in primary care, including heart health, women’s health and diabetes prevention and management. Oak Street Health® prioritizes strong patient–provider relationships that include preventive screenings, support for uncontrolled diabetes, medication management and education on monitoring tools like continuous glucose monitors. Signify Health® clinicians visit health plan members in their homes to conduct In-Home Health Evaluations, which may include a glucose test and diabetic eye exam. Results are sent to members, their primary care provider and health plans for appropriate follow-up.
- We help people achieve their health and weight-loss goals through two programs. The CVS Weight Management program offers personalized nutrition, helps manage FDA-approved weight-loss medications and provides lifestyle support. Through the MinuteClinic® Weight-Loss Program, board-certified clinicians create personalized plans for each patient, which include ongoing coaching and nutritional guidance, as well as weight-loss medication prescribing and management to patients who meet eligibility criteria.
- CVS Specialty® serves approximately 2.2 million patients with chronic, complex and rare conditions across the country. Patients are supported by dedicated, high-touch care teams and more than 30 centers of excellence staffed by CVS Specialty pharmacists, technicians, nurses and other skilled professionals. These teams specialize in specific conditions and therapies to ensure best-in-class personalized care, from infusion services and medication counseling to convenient choices for medication delivery. Our patients have access to pharmacists at any time of day and our digital tools help make the patient experience even more personalized through refill reminders, symptom tracking, secure chat and managing their deliveries.
- The Aetna® Clinical Collaboration (ACC) program supports Medicare Advantage members when it’s time for them to leave the hospital. Aetna has embedded nurses within 17 hospitals and medical facilities to facilitate the necessary patient care and follow-up support they need to transition successfully out of the hospital, remain healthy and reduce future readmissions. Services also include partnering with facilities to ensure the patient transitions to a skilled nursing facility and managing new medications. Once fully implemented at scale, the ACC program is projected to reduce year-over-year 30-day readmissions and hospital length of stay by five percent.
Bringing mental health and well-being to more Americans
We’re committed to making care more accessible and affordable for the millions of Americans facing mental health challenges. Through our enterprise channels, we’re meeting individuals wherever they are — in their community, virtually, in a provider’s office or at home.
Providing holistic well-being for women
Women make about 80% of health care decisions for their families, yet they still face barriers to accessing high-quality, personalized and convenient care for themselves. CVS Health delivers solutions that support women’s physical, mental and emotional well-being across every stage of a woman’s health journey.

Prioritizing patient health during extreme weather events
Severe weather events pose a threat to the health of our patients and members. For example, people with cardiovascular, kidney and respiratory conditions are at risk for complications during heat waves. Poor air quality poses a threat for patients with lung disease and other chronic conditions.
That’s why in 2024, we launched a first-of-its kind initiative to support patients who are most vulnerable to the health impacts of extreme weather. We use advanced environmental data analytics to contact at-risk patients and provide personalized recommendations.
Our commitment to safety for colleagues and consumers
Whether we’re treating patients, dispensing medication, setting care management policies, stocking merchandise or maintaining our workplaces, colleagues across CVS Health put the safety of customers, patients, members and each other first. This is so critical to our ambition to be America’s most trusted health care company that “We prioritize safety and quality” is one of our core company values.
Our SmartDUR technology simplifies the drug utilization review (DUR) process by providing pharmacists with actionable alerts alongside clinical information, talking points and patient-specific recommendations. SmartDUR helps us strengthen and expand the role of our pharmacists and pharmacy teams, while continuing to prioritize patient safety.
- ~80% of unnecessary pharmacist alerts have been reduced, reflecting how the technology prioritizes critical alerts and improves workflow efficiency.
CVS Health is stronger as a company when we partner and learn from governance organizations that share our commitment to excellence in patient safety and overall quality of care.
The Enterprise Patient Safety Organization (EPSO) collaborates with health care providers within CVS Health to enhance patient safety and improve the quality of care by leveraging systems-based strategies and approaches, focusing on the use of advanced analytics to reduce errors and designing innovative safety strategies.
