CVS Pharmacy statement on mifepristone dispensing

March 12, 2024 |1 minute read

WOONSOCKET, R.I., Mar. 12, 2024 — CVS Health® has a long history of supporting and advancing women’s health and we remain focused on meeting their unique health needs. This includes providing access to safe, legal, and evidence-based reproductive health services, information and FDA-approved products.

Today we announced that CVS Pharmacy® retail locations have begun filling prescriptions for mifepristone in select states where legally permissible. This follows the completion of a robust certification process and implementation of all FDA-required protocols for this medication.

Mifepristone is currently available with an authorized prescription from a certified prescriber at CVS Pharmacy locations in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Over the coming weeks, we plan to phase in other states where it is legally permissible for pharmacies to fill prescriptions for this medication.
