At CVS Health, we know health is about more than care — it’s about community. That’s why volunteerism is a cornerstone of how we give back. Through our new collaboration with the Ronald McDonald House, colleagues across the country are helping provide comfort for families during some of their most challenging moments.

Impact of Ronald McDonald House

Ronald McDonald Houses programs help families access their child’s medical care by providing essential resources and accommodations near hospitals. These programs provide stability, support and community, helping families focus on what matters most: their child’s health.

How CVS Health is helping families

Through a $600,000 grant, CVS Health colleagues across 10 regions are participating in organized volunteer activities that focus on supporting Ronald McDonald House families, such as preparing meals and hosting activity nights. Colleagues across the country can also create their own volunteer events at a Ronald McDonald House Chapter near them — empowering them to help make an impact in their own communities.

One powerful example of the collaboration: CVS Health colleagues volunteered at the Ronald McDonald House of Philadelphia during the holiday season, decorating common spaces, helping families make ornaments and putting together care packages with snacks and wellness essentials. This all led to a festive, comforting environment for families. To add extra warmth, the House featured Joyward™ seasonal décor alongside Well Market™ snacks and personal-care items – thoughtful touches that complemented our volunteer work and helped families feel at home.

“When we think about what families are going through if they're staying at a Ronald McDonald House, it's a very challenging moment for them. This new collaboration is a chance to help create that warmth and spirit of community that we know is really important for the families staying here,” says Jenny McColloch, VP, Community Impact & Chief Sustainability Officer, CVS Health.

Meet a volunteer making a difference

CVS Pharmacy District Leader Marshal Carter knows firsthand the impact Ronald McDonald House has on families — and on volunteers. His experience volunteering and serving as a member of the Board of Directors of the Ronald McDonald House of Greater Charlotte in North Carolina stands out as one of the most meaningful moments in his career at CVS Health. From cooking meals to greeting families, Marshal saw how every small act of service makes a big difference.

He says, “Volunteers truly are the heartbeat of the House. We help offset costs and allow Ronald McDonald House to focus more resources on the families they serve. It’s humbling to know that just by showing up and helping, we’re part of something bigger: ensuring families stay together during some of their most difficult times.”

Marshal’s story embodies the heart of CVS Health volunteerism — stepping up when it matters most, supporting our local communities, creating comfort in times of uncertainty and proving that even small acts of kindness can make a big difference for families facing life’s toughest challenges.
