Is living longer living better? Embracing healthy aging as Americans get older

October 10, 2022 | CVS Health Live

Aging is inevitable, and as a country, more and more of us are older than ever before. In fact, according to the United States Census Bureau, the number of adults 65+ is expected to outnumber children for the first time ever by 2034. Despite this, we often do not consider how we can take a proactive approach to aging, as individuals and as a health care industry. No matter where your health journey takes you as you age, CVS Health is not just meeting these needs but innovating the experience for older Americans.

On this episode of CVS Health Live, CVS Health and the National Council on Aging discussed the importance of promoting healthy aging, breaking the stigma of aging and how the health care industry must evolve to meet the needs of the aging U.S. population. Whether by supporting new legislation around over-the-counter hearing aids, evolving our Medicare plan offerings each Annual Enrollment Period, or expanding accessibility technology such as prescription label readers, CVS Health is here for your changing health care needs as you age.

Moderated by Jessica DaMassa, Health Innovation Reporter, our panelists include Dr. Edie Calamia, Vice President, Chief Medical Officer, Aetna Medicaid, a CVS Health company; Angela Patterson, Vice President, CVS Health, Chief Nurse Practitioner, MinuteClinic; and Dorothea Vafiadis, Director, Healthy Aging Partnerships and Strategic Engagement, National Council on Aging.
