Aetna names Kristen Miranda Senior Vice President, Markets

Healthcare innovation and strategic growth expert to lead local market growth

HARTFORD, CT — Aetna today announced Kristen Miranda has been named Senior Vice President, Markets. She will report to Dan Finke, Executive Vice President, CVS Health and President, Health Care Benefits (HCB).

In this role, Kristen will be responsible for Aetna’s Commercial business’ profit and loss, including Aetna’s Third Party Administration & Payer Solutions and Federal Plans. She is tasked with leading and executing on Aetna’s local market strategies to profitably grow the commercial business across Aetna’s 15 local markets. Miranda will lead Aetna’s nationwide field sales and service team and will oversee $21 billion in 2021 revenue.

“Kristen’s expansive professional experience, including the past four years leading Aetna’s West/South Central Territory and her impressive track record, will serve the HCB well as we continue our growth trajectory,” Finke said.

Miranda previously served as Aetna’s President of the West/South Central Territory, which spans 14 states and serves 3.5 million customers. She had executive accountability for developing and delivering on Aetna’s strategic growth and profitability objectives across the region.

Her decades-long health care career also includes an executive leadership role at Blue Shield of California, where she served as the Senior Vice President of Strategic Partnerships and Innovation and led the development and implementation of an innovative provider investment ACO model that yielded strong results. Miranda has also held leadership positions with Health Net and Cigna and has engaged several health care foundations and physician organizations on critical issues of access throughout her career. Prior to joining Aetna, Miranda served as the Chief Integration Officer for agilon health, a healthcare startup designed to drive clinical transformation in provider organizations entering risk in government programs.

Miranda earned a degree in anthropology from the University of California, Davis, was an Honors Collegium scholar at the University of California, Los Angeles, and studied global negotiation at Harvard Business School. She has been a guest lecturer at University of California, Berkeley, Stanford and other leading institutions, as well as a nationally known speaker on innovation in health care. Miranda is on the board of directors for Inogen Inc., Integrated Healthcare Association (IHA), California Association of Health Plans (CAHP), the American Heart Association (CA), Sutter Health│Aetna and Texas Health│Aetna.
