WOONSOCKET, R.I., Sept. 12, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- CVS Health and the CVS Health Foundation today announced a $125,000 donation in cash and in-kind product donations to organizations helping with relief efforts for those affected by Hurricane Irma.
In response to the storm which has left millions without power and displaced thousands of people from their homes, the CVS Health Foundation is making a $50,000 donation to the Florida Disaster Fund. As it did with Hurricane Harvey, the CVS Health Foundation will also match colleague donations to the CVS Health Employee Relief Fund, up to $25,000. Additionally, the company has donated more than $25,000 worth of water to the American Red Cross.
"We are dismayed by the effects of Hurricane Irma across Florida and the impact it's having on our customers and colleagues in the community," said Eileen Howard Boone, SVP of Corporate Social Responsibility and Philanthropy at CVS Health, and President of the CVS Health Foundation. "We will continue to do all we can to ensure that residents affected by this natural disaster have continued access to the support and supplies they need to recover and rebuild."
CVS Pharmacy and CVS Caremark, CVS Health's pharmacy benefit management business, have activated a process that allows pharmacists to provide one-time emergency refills of a 10-day supply of medication for plan members in areas impacted by Hurricane Irma. Customers are encouraged to call their store directly to ensure they have the needed supplies and medications.
CVS Health has a long history of providing aid in times of disasters, helping communities prepare and recover by donating emergency supplies, such as food and water, cleaning and personal care products. CVS Health, its customers and colleagues, and the CVS Health Foundation donated more than $400,000 in cash and in-kind donations in response to Hurricane Harvey, for a total to date of more than $525,000 in collective commitment related to the two storms.
