Aetna health plan available to New Jersey’s State Health Benefits Program (SHBP) and School Employees’ Health Benefits Program (SEHBP)

During the health care open enrollment period in April, members will have the opportunity to choose Aetna for their and their dependents’ medical coverage that begins July 1, 2024


WOONSOCKET, RI, April 2, 2024 — Aetna®, a CVS Health® company (NYSE: CVS), will be available as a choice for State of New Jersey’s State Health Benefits Program (SHBP) and School Employees’ Health Benefits Program (SEHBP) for all active, eligible employees and their dependents for their medical coverage beginning July 1, 2024. 

During the special open enrollment in April, nearly 600,000 total members will now have the option to choose Aetna for access to a comprehensive network of providers and the integrated assets with CVS Health, bringing together health and wellness benefits to meet every individual’s unique health care needs.

Aetna already has a proud history serving the health care needs of New Jersey’s state employees and their dependents — our Medicare Advantage program provides health care coverage to more than 200,000 retirees. Our dental plan provides approximately 300,000 state employees, retirees and dependents with comprehensive dental coverage.
