As a physician, I needed someone I could trust

As a physician, Amit Rakhit is accustomed to caring for others. But one day he woke with a stabbing sensation in his eye. It was red, swollen and inflamed—painful enough to make even an experienced doctor wonder whether something serious was wrong.​

“I think doctors are the worst patients because they often self-diagnose,” Amit said. “So I’m very particular about who I go to.”​

Amit suspected conjunctivitis, but he knew he needed another clinician to examine his eye to confirm the diagnosis. An emergency room visit could mean hours of waiting, and his primary care office had no immediate appointments.

A CVS customer for more than 40 years, Amit turned to his trusted neighborhood MinuteClinic, just a block from his Miami-area home. He made an appointment online for that same morning.​

“They know me there, and I feel comfortable that I get the right information and the right care,” Amit said. “The nurse practitioner listened and asked good questions. She was knowledgeable.”​

After confirming he had conjunctivitis, she prescribed the treatment he needed. He picked up the prescription at the pharmacy just steps away.​

“I left in about 20 minutes—about as long as it takes to get a latte,” Amit said. “It was one less thing to worry about, and I could go about my day.”​

The simplicity of that experience reflects what Amit values about CVS in his daily life. He uses prescription delivery and finds preventive care and everyday essentials—from flu and shingles vaccinations to shaving cream, almond milk or a birthday card—all under one roof.​

He also recognizes CVS Health’s broader role in the community. Through vaccinations and screenings at local events, the company helps people access care where they are.

“When I go to the CVS here, I don’t think of CVS as the big national chain,” Amit said. “I think of it as my local CVS.”​
