Cancer changed my life, but it didn't stop me from living it
Laura Huggins, Titusville, FL
Sunrise often finds Laura Huggins planning her next adventure. The Titusville resident and aerospace union treasurer loves traveling and staying active. But since her 2016 breast cancer diagnosis, protecting her health has become equally important.
A CVS Health customer for more than 25 years, Laura relied on CVS Pharmacy throughout chemotherapy and recovery.
“They were key for getting my prescriptions filled, over-the-counter allergy medications, and vitamins because when you’re in chemo you definitely need to fortify your physical strength,” she said.
The hardest days often came after chemotherapy sessions, when prescription delivery became essential.
“CVS will deliver any of the medications that you need to your home,” Laura said. “And they did deliver. And I was able to feel secure and happy that I'm taken care of.”
During recovery, Laura turned to MinuteClinic for vaccines and reminders that helped her stay on schedule. CVS Pharmacy also supports her ongoing health needs through her cholesterol prescription and calcium supplements.
“I was also able to get some nice cosmetics to make myself look healthy even though I was battling for my life,” she said.
Signify Health's in-home health evaluations, offered through Laura's health plan, provided additional reassurance.
“They checked my blood pressure, made sure I had all my medications, and that I was doing things that'll help me get through the aging process and feel more vibrant and alive,” Laura said.
Today, Laura stays active through walking, biking and beach visits. Her CVS ExtraCare® membership helps her save on over-the-counter health products.
“I use the coupons to get my needed supplements,” she said. “It helps me stretch my budget.”
For Laura, dependable health care support provides something invaluable: the confidence to keep moving forward.
