Not having health insurance changed how I think about care

Long before Giancarlo Brezillion cared for patients as a dentist, CVS Health helped him care for himself.

Born in New York City and raised in Colombia, Giancarlo returned to the United States determined to build a career in dentistry. But while applying to dental school and completing his training, he did not have health insurance. He still needed annual physicals, vaccines, testing and health forms and MinuteClinic was where he was able to easily get it all done.

“Before I had health insurance, I felt worried because not having access to care really puts your life in danger,” Giancarlo said.

With convenient locations and services in one place, CVS Health helped Giancarlo meet his school requirements and stay focused on becoming the dentist he aspired to be.

Today, the Jersey City health care professional’s relationship with CVS Health has come full circle.

“As a dentist, I have to send my patients to the right pharmacy because there's a lot of things at stake,” he said.

When patients need medication for an infection or dental pain, he often calls their prescriptions into CVS Pharmacy and works directly with CVS pharmacists.

“When someone has an infection, waiting is the last thing they need,” Giancarlo said. “As a dentist, I trust CVS Pharmacy to fill their prescriptions quickly and reliably. CVS Health makes me feel confident that I’m doing the right thing for my patients.”
