New location at JEVS Human Services Orleans Technical College is part of company’s commitment to increase access to employment services and training to underserved populations

WOONSOCKET, R.I. — CVS Health (NYSE: CVS) today announced it has opened its newest Workforce Innovation and Talent Center in Philadelphia at JEVS Human Services Orleans Technical College. The company will also open a satellite location at the Philadelphia Housing Authority Vaux Community Building to help bring even more employment opportunities to Philadelphia community members. These locations are part of the company’s commitment to expand on its longstanding community partnerships to provide meaningful employment opportunities in underserved communities.

“Providing employment and skills training to underserved populations has the power to transform and build healthier communities,” said David Casey, SVP and Chief Diversity Officer, CVS Health. “We’re working with JEVS Human Services and Philadelphia Housing Authority to help break down any employment barriers that may exist and focusing on addressing health disparities that prevail among participants.”

The new Workforce Development and Training Center is located at 2770 Red Lion Road. The center will offer training for individuals with disabilities, mature workers, youth and veterans seeking employment as pharmacy technicians, retail associates and logistics associates and will include a simulated retail store that offers hands-on job training. The center will also offer on-site supportive services to help participants succeed outside the workforce, including increasing access to housing, health care, education and financial readiness.

“We are delighted to cut the ribbon on the Workforce Innovation and Talent Center,” said Jay Spector, President and CEO of JEVS Human Services. “Our partnership with CVS Health could not be better timed. Throughout the pandemic, we have been working hard to prepare job seekers in our region with the skills, credentials and services they need to get back on their feet and find rewarding careers. Access to opportunities at the WITC is critical in this effort.”

Additionally, CVS Health will open a satellite location at Philadelphia Housing Authority’s Vaux Community Building to expand the training offered at JEVS Human Services Orleans Technical College to the Philadelphia community. This satellite Center is located at 2300 Master Street and will offer training for individuals seeking employment as customer service associates. Individuals who complete the program at either location qualify to apply for a position at CVS Health.

“This new partnership with CVS Health shows that PHA is serious about keeping the promises it made in the plan to transform Sharswood,” said Kelvin A. Jeremiah, Philadelphia Housing Authority President and CEO. "In reality, it takes an entire village to revitalize a Philadelphia neighborhood. We can't do it alone. CVS Health is bringing new energy to our efforts to create an affordable mixed-income community of choice by offering opportunities for employment and training. As importantly, its investment demonstrates a powerful commitment to neighborhoods that have been underserved.”

In addition to the new Philadelphia location, the company operates Workforce Development and Training Centers in Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Boston, New York City and Washington, D.C.
