CVS Health® named Cathy Moffitt, MD, FAAP, CHIE, as Senior Vice President, CVS Health and Chief Medical Officer, Aetna®. Cathy reports to Sree Chaguturu, MD and became a member of the CVS Health Medical Affairs leadership team. Moffitt also maintains a reporting relationship with Dan Finke, Aetna President, and is a member of the Aetna leadership team.
As Chief Medical Officer of Aetna, Cathy leads the Aetna Medical Affairs team in continuing to drive clinical excellence and improved health outcomes for Aetna members.
“A consummate physician and leader, Cathy has built a reputation on leading by example and always keeping the member at the heart of what we do. We are thrilled to see her assume this critically important role,” said Chaguturu.
Cathy brings a wealth of operational experience and a strong focus on improving clinical health care quality and outcomes. Most recently, she served as the Vice President and Chief Medical Officer of the Aetna Commercial business.
Previously, Moffitt was the Chief of Hospital Pediatrics at Broward Health. She began her career in managed health as a Medical Director for Vista Health Plan and also oversaw their Medicaid, CHIP and long-term care programs with a special focus on alignment of clinical and administrative management.
Moffitt completed her residency training in general pediatrics and fellowship training in pediatric infectious diseases at Duke University Medical Center. She received her MD from the University of South Florida, College of Medicine and her BS from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She completed AHIP’s Executive Leadership Program, is a member of the Northeast Business Group on Health and a Certified Health Insurance Executive.
With Moffitt’s appointment, Dr. Kyu Rhee departed CVS Health.
