A four-story, 36-unit apartment complex that will provide affordable housing is being built in the booming Five Points neighborhood of Denver, Colorado in order to help address the social determinants of health. The properties acquired at 3022 Welton Street once belonged to a local baseball legend named Thomas “Pistol Pete” Albright, who also left behind an entrepreneurial legacy covered in detail by his great-grandchildren in the podcast episode below.
Finding home in Denver at Charity’s House
Melissa tracks down the story behind Charity’s House, as it will be called — tracing it back to Thomas “Pistol Pete” Albright, a star pitcher in the Negro Leagues. She speaks with Pastor Robert Woolfolk, Sr. and his wife, Eddie, from the Agape Christian Church; Keli Savage, Executive Director of Impact Investment Strategy for CVS Health & Aetna as well as “Pistol Pete’s” great-grandchildren, Donald and Jaime Albright, entrepreneurs themselves at Tenderfoot TV.
Special thanks to all of our guests including Oriana Sanchez, Project Director at BlueLine Development.
