Behavioral health and mental well-being
Creating accessible and quality behavioral and mental health solutions
Our commitment to mental health
CVS Health® is committed to making mental health care more accessible, appropriate and convenient. We support people’s mental well-being wherever they are — whether it’s in a provider’s office, in the community, virtually or at home. We provide evidence-based mental health care across our businesses via a vast network of high-quality providers, diverse care delivery models and integrated clinical quality oversight.
Our mental health services
Aetna’s mental health benefits and services support members’ needs by providing timely access and navigation to in-person and virtual care, driving quality care and measured outcomes and leveraging technology to enhance the member experience.
Aetna’s Resources for Living (RFL) offers a smarter, stronger employee assistance program (EAP) that integrates its tech-enabled approach to ensure timely access, quality care and a comprehensive approach to improving members’ mental, social and emotional health.
MinuteClinic® licensed mental health providers offer mental health counseling, providing virtual talk therapy in 49 states and Washington D.C.* and in-person at select MinuteClinic® locations. Services address anxiety, stress, depression, trauma, grief, substance use and more for adults and adolescents aged 13 and older. Depression screenings are also available for patients who are experiencing depression symptoms or think they may have depression, through any visit virtually and in-person.
CVS Caremark offers nurse-led behavioral health assessments and referrals as needed to support members with chronic and complex conditions, such as cancer and rare diseases. Its weight management solutions consider comorbidities such as mental health needs when considering treatment approaches.
Oak Street Health integrates behavioral health services into its primary care model for older adults. Patients benefit from seamless screenings, access to medical social workers, one-on-one therapy and a 24/7 support line, allowing for early identification and timely intervention.*
Signify Health clinicians conduct In-Home Health Evaluations (IHEs) that include screenings for depression and anxiety as well as a standardized review for suicide risk based on self-reported data collected during the in-home visit. These evaluations help identify behavioral health needs and connect health plan members, especially Medicare Advantage members, to appropriate follow-up care and support. Additionally, Signify Health offers digital cognitive testing to help screen for mild cognitive impairment, which can significantly impact one’s physical and emotional well-being.

CVS® has a footprint, and it has capabilities that no other health care company in the country has.
So within Aetna, we do behavioral health care management.
Within Oak Street, we do the integrated collaborative care model.
Within Minuteclinic, we provide specific specialty behavioral health services for mild to moderate illness.
And having that footprint, along with the various capabilities that we have under the CVS umbrella, gives us an opportunity to be at scale with all of these things that we know really improve people's health and their outcome and their quality of life.
Access to care has been the predominant problem that we've been dealing with over the past few years in behavioral health as an industry.
Over the last few years Aetna teams have been working to streamline credentialing processes, making it easier for small businesses to join our network.
Over 150,000 new providers have joined the network just in the last couple of years.
At Oak Street Health we, focus on value care.
So we want to do, focusing on your entire body.
Every patient that I have met with so far has absolutely loved it.
They have loved the fact that they get to come to Oak Street and they have everything here, and it takes a lot of the stress off of them.
When we started this journey, we knew that there really isn't health care without mental health.
You see CVS or Minuteclinic, you may have been coming in for a flu vaccine and you see, gosh, did you know we do mental health?
And that trust really starts to integrate and blend.
And our goal is to then surround them with the right provider and care team.
We're really on this journey of making sure we're meeting the needs of the and the demand that's out there.
It's not just access to therapy, it's access to care.
And we really see ourselves as a key part of that ecosystem.
And I'm very excited about the work that's happening right now.
