BARTON COUNTY, K.S., Dec. 18, 2023— Aetna Better Health® of Kansas, a CVS Health® company (NYSE: CVS), announced that Aetna® provided a community investment of $155,000 to support initiatives that address housing instability across Kansas.

The community investment includes $100,000 over the last two years for the Kansas Statewide Homeless Coalition, Inc (KSHC), a Lawrence-based, not-for-profit organization that works with communities throughout the state to provide advocacy, education and collaboration to end homelessness in Kansas. The donation will help Kansans in rural and frontier areas.

“On any given night, around 2,200 Kansans are homeless,” said Jane Brown, CEO of Aetna Better Health of Kansas. “More than 40 percent are outside of our large metro areas. Getting help to these folks requires creative partnerships with organizations of all sizes and in lots of places. That’s why we’re supporting the Kansas Statewide Homeless Coalition.”

Additionally, Aetna donated $55,000 to other housing and homeless service providers, including Bert Nash Community Mental Health Center, Inc., the Mental Health Association Residential Care, Inc., Breakthrough House, Inc. and Mental Health America of the Heartland.

Aetna Better Health of Kansas also administers a grant program in Kansas called No Place Like Home, which supports community-based organizations that help Aetna members access or maintain housing. Funds provide one-time emergency housing assistance to help keep members in their home or to establish a new home in the community.

Since 2021, Aetna has donated more than $590,000 to various community-based organizations across the state to positively impact population health and provide those in need with more options to access quality health care.
