From helping people access the medicines they need to assistance with managing chronic and complex conditions and much more, CVS Health reaches more than 100 million Americans annually. We have long been at the forefront of putting our patients’ health first and improving the public health of our communities.
The CVS Health Impact Dashboard showcases how we’re serving as the front door to health care in 10,000 communities across the country. Every day, we connect Americans to high-quality and affordable care locally, improve the health and safety of the communities we serve and drive economic growth across the U.S.
High-Quality and Affordable Care in the Community
At CVS Health, we recognize the importance of helping patients access the medicines and care they need and can afford without sacrificing quality. We’re delivering personalized tools and solutions that put patients at the center of their health care.
Our 30,000 pharmacists counsel patients on managing their medications and identify opportunities to save an average of $420 a year.
Our more than 1,100 MinuteClinic locations across the nation deliver high-quality, reliable care during extended hours from nurse practitioners and physician assistants who specialize in family health care. Furthermore, MinuteClinic was the first retail health care provider to earn the Gold Seal of Approval from the Joint Commission in 2006 and has been reaccredited three times since.
We have established partnerships with 70 major health systems to support joint clinical programs in the community and interoperable electronic health records nationwide.
We offer $0 copays on medications for many chronic diseases through preventive drug lists provided through CVS Caremark.
Healthier and Safer Communities
Our approach to supporting the communities we serve ties directly to our purpose: Helping people on their path to better health. From helping to fight the opioid crisis in communities across the U.S. to working to create the next tobacco-free generation, our charitable giving and locally based programs are working to support a healthier population.
Since 2006, we have provided $122 million worth of free health services provided through Project Health.
We have reached 400,000 students through our prescription drug abuse education program, Pharmacists Teach.
Most recently, we’ve provided 1,650 safe disposal kiosks to prevent the abuse or diversion of medication.
Economic Impact – Nationally and Locally
As one of the country’s largest employers, we play an integral role in providing jobs in 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. Our 250,000 employees make a purposeful impact in the communities and with people they serve.
But beyond our own employees, we’re also empowering a more diverse workforce nationwide.
In 2017, we spent $2.3 billion to support diverse suppliers. Additionally, we have introduced more than 40,000 underserved young people to careers in health care.
