My family's health has always been a team effort
Prachi Gupta, New York, NY
For New York City resident Prachi Gupta, a trip to CVS Pharmacy has never been just another errand. Growing up in a multigenerational immigrant family, those CVS Pharmacy visits were about spending time with the people she loved most.
Her parents often worked long hours, so Prachi treasured visits with her father, who has muscular dystrophy and uses a motorized wheelchair. They would “race” down the street to CVS Pharmacy, pick up household necessities and stop at a nearby restaurant before heading home. Walks with her grandmother became their own ritual: together, they sorted CVS coupons and calculated the best savings. Before long, getting a CVS ExtraCare card became a rite of passage for aunts, uncles and cousins arriving in the United States.
As Prachi grew older, CVS continued to feel familiar. When she moved to East Village, the CVS Pharmacy a few minutes away from her apartment helped her through her first few months in the big city with everyday essentials that she was able to afford thanks to CVS rewards and couponing—from vitamins and supplements to cleaning supplies and quick meals.
Prachi’s father takes about 10 medications, and English can be challenging for her parents and grandmother. Knowing she can depend on CVS pharmacists to answer questions and explain dosages, helps Prachi keep her family’s health needs organized.
“It’s always a team effort to make sure they get the right amount of medication,” she said.
Today, the former pre-school teacher also turns to CVS Health for her own care, including vaccinations, COVID-19 testing and routine adult health checkups.
“It makes me feel really safe to have access to CVS Health,” Prachi said. “CVS Health is always there for my family’s health care needs.”
