If I don't take my medication within 10 to 15 minutes, it starts to spiral

For Sarah Melgar, timing can change everything.

She has lived with chronic migraines for as long as she can remember. The first sign is blurry vision. People often tell her to “just push through,” which Sarah says is impossible when she temporarily can’t see and the condition can escalate into nausea, severe pain, and hours, or even days, in a dark room.

“If I don’t take my medication within 10 to 15 minutes, it just starts to spiral,” Sarah said.

The narrow window shapes how Sarah moves through life, knowing a migraine can suddenly interrupt work, plans or milestones without warning. CVS Pharmacy has helped her manage medication needs over time, from treatment for childhood seizures to reliable access to migraine medication today.

Easy access to care helps Sarah stay prepared for everyday responsibilities and the activities she loves, like rock climbing, scuba diving and travel.

Because her migraine prescription comes in limited quantities, a simple refill process matters. Through the CVS Health® app and pharmacy team, Sarah can refill prescriptions, see when they’re ready and get support if an insurance issue arises.

“Knowing that my migraines are in check and I can have my medicine on me at all times is such a relief,” Sarah said.

The importance of timely care became clear again on Christmas Eve. When Sarah learned her nephew had arrived early, she was home in New York City and still needed recommended vaccinations to safely meet him.

Rather than waiting weeks for a doctor’s appointment, Sarah went to CVS Pharmacy and got the immunizations quickly, in time to make her flight and meet him.

For Sarah, both experiences come down to accessing care when it matters. “CVS Health makes it easy for me to stay on top of my medications,” she said. “They’re able to get you your prescriptions on time — and vaccines when you need them.”
