Transforming health through local care

Around 85% of Americans live within five miles of a CVS Pharmacy®.

We count more than 9,000 pharmacy locations, including those in Target and Schnucks grocery stores. It’s that blend of closeness and reach that positions our retail pharmacies — and CVS Health® as a whole — to deliver innovative, community-based solutions that make health care simpler, more affordable and more accessible for more people.

Putting patients first

Along with dispensing prescriptions, pharmacists work as part of a clinical care team to provide counseling, give vaccinations, search for prescription savings and offer services that make staying on medications easier.

Providing needed immunizations

Our pharmacists are trained to administer vaccinations for a range of ailments and diseases, from COVID-19 to the chicken pox. Vaccines are easy to schedule on CVS.com® and in the CVS Pharmacy app.

Taking a stand for better health

When it comes to health, being ahead of the curve is part of the CVS Pharmacy DNA. In 2014, we became the first and only major pharmacy to stop selling tobacco products. And we’ve stayed true to our commitment to encouraging healthy choices through the products we sell — and how we market them.

With the launch of Tested to Be Trusted™, we became the first national retailer to require third-party testing and verification of all vitamins and supplements. Through independent labs, we test national and store brand products to confirm that ingredients listed on the label are accurate and that they’re free from certain additives and contaminants.

In 2018, CVS Pharmacy committed to not materially alter beauty imagery created for in-store and online advertising and social media. At the same time, the company introduced the CVS Beauty Mark, a watermark highlighting imagery that hasn’t been materially altered.

In 2019, our Beauty in Real Life® campaign highlighted an authentic and more realistic image of beauty. Through traditional advertising and influencers, Beauty in Real Life set out to empower women to feel comfortable and confident in their own skin.

We’re improving access to health and wellness products by creating them. CVS Pharmacy® sells dozens of exclusive, proprietary brands that deliver equal quality as national brands at a lower cost. Among them:

• Thousands of over-the-counter CVS Health brand products that support customers through everything from seasonal illnesses to everyday well-being

• Live Better™ by CVS Health brand brings you trusted and transparent wellness products to help you feel your best and simply live better

• Hundreds of exclusive beauty and personal care products free of potentially harmful parabens, phthalates and formaldehyde

• Our branded food products, free of trans fats months ahead of the Food and Drug Administration requirement

• And our Gold Emblem abound® brand of wholesome snacks and grocery essentials, free from artificial preservatives and flavors
